Yummy Chef’s Salad at Figaro

That’s how happy Wena was when her Hot Chocolate drink was served right after eating Figaro’s Dory Provencal meal with free iced tea ๐Ÿ˜†

Last week, while we were debating on where we’d hang out after Wena’s Chinese classes, we end up agreeing to check out Figaro at The Walk in Asiatown IT Park since we haven’t been to any Figaro branch ever. So after learning that this branch closes at 1am, we decided to stay there despite knowing that their ISP is Globelines. I have Globelines at home and I’m not a happy camper. The connection is just annoyingly intermittent all the time. So you may already guess my hesitation to stay at Figaro. Maybe it’s the staff’s sales talk saying that they had no choice about their ISP since it’s IT Park and Globelines rule in this area, which made us stay ๐Ÿ˜† For a minimum purchase of Php 200.00, you can charge your laptops for free and use their free wi-fi internet connection.

Going back, we settled for a table in front of the counter since the rest of the decent spots were taken. I ended up freezing where I was seated since the air conditioner was blowing air in my direction. We had a hard time ordering since we were not familiar with their meals. And since we were planning to go on a diet, we just looked at their choices of “sagbot” (grass/leaves) menu ๐Ÿ˜† (I normally refer to any vegetable salad as sagbot so pardon my own jargons. hehehe). We ordered the Chef’s Salad instead upon getting good feedback of the saleability of this menu. Wena ordered Hot Chocolate for her drink even though she just consumed Postrio’s Hot Chocolate drink earlier that afternoon. I ordered their Coffee Jelly Float since I got intrigued with its picture on their menu board.

Figaro’s Chef’s Salad at Php 99.00

We shared the salad and boy oh boy it was yummy! I like! ๐Ÿ˜€ I think the price is reasonable. Although it was served in a not so big plate, but its quantity is just right. The Chef’s Salad at Figaro is a mixture of lettuce, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, onions, olives, cold chicken, ham, hard boiled egg, cheese plus their salad dressing – which I believe is what makes this salad truly yum yum! ๐Ÿ˜€

Wena’s all-time favorite is the Signature Hot Chocolate drink from Starbucks. But after tasting the Hot Chocolate she ordered, it wasn’t hard for her to give her approval and recommendation of this drink. She liked it. I, on the other hand, was disappointed with my drink. Disappointed because I was looking forward to capturing a photo of the Coffee Jelly Float with the ice cream and chocolate syrup on top but they served it with a lid! ๐Ÿ™ waaaa. I was hoping I could take a picture of the Coffee Jelly Floatย just like the one on the menu board. But they ruined my Coffee Jelly Float! ๐Ÿ˜† The drink was good. I enjoyed sipping and munching those jellies in it. hehe.

Yesterday, I had to go to the bank to pay some bills then Wena asked me to accompany her at Keppel Building, in Ayala. We agreed to eat at Figaro in The Terraces since both of us can’t get enough of the Chef’s Salad.

I still ordered the Chef’s Salad and iced tea. This time, Wena ordered the Dory Provencal, a pan-fried cream dory fish-fillet infused in zesty Provencal sauce.

Dory Provencal at Php 199.00

The Dory Provencal is priced at Php 199.00 but this comes with your choice of Figaro’s pasta and a 12oz ย iced tea. The fish tasted fine with all those sauce and herbs underneath. But since the sauce was too sour for ourย taste buds, we didn’t pay attention to those yummy looking salsa below. The pasta’s ok too.

Chef’ Salad for the second time

After they served the Chef’s Salad at their Ayala branch, I immediately noticed the distinction from their Chef’s Salad at The Walk. One, the salad dressing at the Ayala branch is more diluted than their branch at The Walk in IT Park. Second, the bell peppers were cut thicker than at The Walk. Third, the chicken strips and cheese were too thin compared to the one at The Walk. Nonetheless, I still liked both even with those “irregularities”. ๐Ÿ™‚

Figaro is a 100% Filipino-owned company. The coffee used in their drinks are homegrown in the Philippines. I’ve heard talks that the coffee in Figaro isn’t good. I guess if you got used to sipping Starbucks and the like, you’d definitely not like the unique taste our own coffee. As for me, since I love anything that’s edible for my taste buds, this really doesn’t matter. I enjoyed their food and am looking forward to my next Figaro adventure ๐Ÿ™‚
