Revisiting MV Doulos

My friends invited me to visit MV Doulos today (12th) and I was surprised that the ship is actually here. I already forgot the year when they first came to Cebu. Anyway, we went to the place and checked out their collection of books. I was not really planning to buy anything but I saw this cute pink address booklet and I know just the person who’d be delighted once she sees it!

MV Doulos is a floating bookshop owned by the German charity Gute Bücher für Alle (Good Books for All), a private, non-profit, charitable organization registered in Germany. Volunteers from over 40 countries serve on board Doulos. They are mostly young people who have chosen to dedicate two years of their lives to be on board, learning to live and work together, and serving the communities in the ports visited.

Doulos is recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest active ocean-going passenger ship. She is currently doing her last world tour and is planned to be de-commissioned in 2010.

The ship is currently docked at Pier 2 in Cebu City and will open its doors  till they sail on the 11th of February. They open at 2pm to 10pm on Mondays but opens at 10am to 10pm every Tuesdays to Saturdays. I can’t remember if they open on Sundays, though.
