Red Velvet Cup Cake by Leona’s Cakes And Pastries

I mentioned when I shared to you the Red Velvet Cake by La Marea that I will show you Leona’s version of their Red Velvet Cup Cake. It was the 2nd red velvet cake that I had tasted ever since I was introduced to this yummy cake by an ex-colleague, who also sells cakes. When I tasted the cupcake, I couldn’t believe the explosion that happened in my mouth. It was soooo yummy that I craved for a second one the moment I consumed the entire cup cake. But my sister only bought one. So I just had to deal with my cravings and promised myself that I’d get my hands on another one soon.

Yesterday, when I was doing an errand for my mom at SM City Cebu, I decided to drop by Leona’s Cakes and Pastries outlet at the Northwing section and ordered one cup cake.

Leona’s Cakes and Pastries is a Cebu-based pastry shop that sells affordable yet yummy desserts. Ever since they opened their doors to Cebuanos, I got addicted to their cakes. In fact, my past time before included Leona’s food trippin’ with Auds and Eds just to eat their yummy cakes.

This Red Velvet cup cake by Leona’s is sold at P50.00. It’s cheaper than what La Marea is selling, which is P95.00 but I guess that’s because La Marea uses cream cheese (i think) on their red velvet cake.

Once I started eating my cup cake, I suddenly realized that the icing is too sweet. I also tried eating the cake without the icing but I decided I still wanted to eat the whole thing with the icing. I wish they’d lessen the sweetness on the icing though. While eating, I loved playing with those candy sprinkles in my tongue. It adds fun to the whole experience of nibbling the red velvet cake. 😉

Leona’s also sells different flavored cup cakes. I’ve already tried their chocolate cupcake which is also to die for. Next time I visit their store, I’ll try their other flavors. Oh, they also sell smaller versions of their semi-giant cup cakes too. It’s P50 for 6 pieces and I’ll get to taste them in the next few days. wohooo!

Happy eating everyone! 😀

  1. Maka adik gyud ang cake sa Leonas esp mga moist cake. I’m a frequent visitor sa ilang J. Luna branch katong wala pa sa SM 🙂

  2. I haven’t tasted any cupcakes other than Leona’s and I find their cupcakes very good. do you think red velvet with creamcheese is better?
