Persuasion by Jane Austen (2007 movie)

It has been a long time since I posted a movie article. Even though I haven’t slept yet and still has some pending work to do, I can’t simply resist not sharing this movie with you. hehehe.

Again, the hopeless romantic in me got carried away again. I was merely waiting for my bookmarking tasks to finish loading, and to keep me from dozing off  I decided to scan some of the movies saved on this OS and selected this one. I didn’t know that the movie I picked was an adaptation of one of Jane Austen’s novels.

I am a fan of the movies based from Jane Austen’s work, especially Pride and Prejudice (2005).  I wish I can go back in time and live like them. I think I was born on that century in my past life. hehehe.

I don’t wanna review the movie though and give a summary since I might use up the entire page. You just have to watch it! LOL.. K fine! It’s about a girl who turned down a marriage proposal when she was 19 since the guy was poor and after 8 years, they reunite and the guy got rich, both of them still affected by what happened in the past as they still loved each other but too proud to speak up. There! Anyway, his proposal goes like this..

“Miss Elliot, I can bear this no longer. You pierce my soul. I’m half agony, half hope. Unjust I may have been. Weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it eight years ago.”

I just wanted to share with you my admiration for Rupert Penry-Jones. He’s so “gwapo”! (handsome) hahaha. I guess I have a new crush but I won’t be replacing James McAvoy yet. hehehe.

I apologize but this collage was created in a hurry as I still have a lot of things to do so please bear with its quality. 🙂 One thing I didn’t like was how they chose his lead female actor. I really don’t find her pretty. Well if there’s any consolation, Rupert was so handsome, but the girl isn’t. hmpf! Oh, the girl’s name is Sally Hawkins.

the not-so-pretty Sally Hawkins (in my opinion) as Anne Elliot

Anyway, same thing I did after watching Pride and Prejudice, I’ll be heading off to a bookshop to find me a copy of Persuasion. Can’t wait to read the book!
