My SM Cyberzone’s Summer Festival Experience

If it was not for my friend Praline, I would have missed experiencing one of the biggest tech caravans that hit the country this summer, the Cyberzone Summer Festival.

I just learned the night of May 24th that such event will take place the next day at SM City Cebu and I got excited as this will be my first time joining this kind of affair. So even if I still had to work the night of the said festival, plus the fact that I am going straight to SM City after my extended work shift, I still chose to partake in this historical event, without sleep.

I really had no idea what the festival was all about until my friends, (Praline and Edcel) and I arrived at SM City. We found the Cyberzone Summer Festival on the lower ground floor of the mall. The venue was just right ensuring that the festival gets to invite a huge number of crowds. This will allow customers the opportunity to check out the ongoing event.

When we arrived, there were already quite a number of people who have gathered to see what the festival was all about. We also saw a couple of familiar faces during the festival since there were Cebu-based bloggers who got invited on the event.

Our first stop, the Registration Area. After signing in our names on a sheet of paper and after mentioning that we were also bloggers, we were given a bagful of goodies. Turns out that the contents of the bag contained a PLDT myDSL polo jack, a cap, an eGames CD and a poster.  🙂

The guy in the Registration booth was happy to answer all my questions about the festival

While waiting for the others to finish the registration, I then asked the person behind the booth what the festival was all about. I learned that the Cyberzone Summer Festival was actually a nationwide caravan which showcased Cyberzone as that all-in-one place which offers all tech geeks and nots the opportunity to get a hold of the latest selection of gadgets out in the market. Whether it be for gaming, mobile, networking and internet access, and all the accessories you can think of which is associated with all the gadgets out there, the Cyberzone in all SM branches will provide you what you need.

The Cyberzone Summer Festival started last April 30th and residents near the SM Southmall area got the opportunity to witness its launching. Soon after, the staff of the Cyberzone Summer Festival has been touring the country, non-stop, just to bring the Cyberzone Experience to the public.

What I really admire about the people behind the Cyberzone Summer Festival is their ingenuity in thinking of this event. Instead of allowing the masses to be clueless on the latest gadgets out in the market, this festival brought awareness to all walks of life across all parts of the country and allowed each curious individual the opportunity to be part of the Cyberzone experience.

Different booths were setup on this road show of gadgets and everyone was encouraged to use the latest gadgets in the market. There were 2 gaming stations featuring Nintendo Wii, which was made available for everyone’s use. For those who love sports, there was an option to play Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling and Boxing with the Wii sports. And for the musically inclined, the Rock Band for Wii was also available.

There was also a Photobooth in the area, knowing that we generally love to take photos.

And across the Photobooth, an Upload Express Station was was waiting for you to upload those photos and have them printed. Unluckily, the station ran out of photo paper, so we didn’t get the chance to have our photos printed. They must have ran out of paper due to the number of people who checked out the festival. We still enjoyed all the photo sessions though. Then, to the left of the Upload Express station, netbooks were showcased. I immediately checked out the wi-fi connection and the feel of the MSI netbooks on my hands. I liked the simple yet sleek design of MSI netbooks. There were also phones and cameras in the exhibit. And lastly, the crowd’s favorite was the Booth of Luck, where everyone gets to pick a prize. When it was my turn, I got lucky and won a poster. Some left empty handed.

Seeing all those people in the festival and trying out all the featured gadgets makes me say that the Cyberzone Summer Festival is really something. Having an all in one tech place where you can shop around and find everything you need is such a breather for those who are always on the go like me. Every time I need to buy something techy, I know that I won’t have to transfer to different floors or look elsewhere for I know that I can always find anything I need for my tech stuff at the SM Cyberzone.

I can’t wait for more festivals like these. I hope that the organizers of the Cyberzone Summer Festival will come up with more events like these, and nationwide too!
