Might of Zeus is a mythology-based game created by Stakelogic and partner Jelly. It stars one of the power couples of the ancient world, Zeus and Hera, who are honoured with their own features in the game. One is a locking wilds respins feature, another is free spins with win multipliers. According to some reports, the couple repeatedly clashed throughout their tumultuous marriage, in part due to Zeus' infidelities. Due to the constant competition between the two gods, we'll let players decide which deity exerts the most influence in Might of Zeus; we don't want to get embroiled in any marital spat over who has the best feature.

Some say Hera was particularly upset about Zeus siring children to other women and favouring them more than her own son Ares. In Might of Zeus, it looks like it might be one of those days the divine couple aren't seeing eye to eye about something. Moody clouds cover the sky, interspersed by bolts of lightning on the horizon, over what is presumably Mt Olympus on a misty day. Greek columns prop up the game grid, while a lowkey lute-style backing soundtrack plays and cash register effects compete with the thunder. It's okay imagery, nothing particularly striking or mythologically memorable, though fine enough.

Might of Zeus is played on a 5-reel, 4-row, game panel, providing 1,024 ways to win. Landing matching symbols in any row, from the lefthand side in adjacent reels, creates a winning way. One thing to be wary of is the variable RTP configurations the game comes with, as these do not only affect the theoretical return but max win as well. The most favourable has a value of 96.41%, rated 4 out of 5 in terms of volatility. Playable on most devices, stakes can be set as low as 25 p/c per spin or as high as $/€125.

To win, you'll need just two Hera or Zeus symbols to do so, and these are worth 8-12 times your stake for five of a kind. Gift of Zeus

On any base game spin, Zeus can choose one Olympian God symbol, transform all instances of this type into a wild, and reward a respin. If another of the chosen Olympian God symbols lands, it is changed into a wild and triggers another respin. During respins, any reels with Wild Olympian Gods on them are locked.

Bolt of Zeus

When 2 scatter symbols land on the reels, lightning may zap the reels, giving players the chance to add the third scatter needed to trigger free spins.

Boon of Hera Free Spins

When 3 scatter symbols are in view on reels 1, 3, and 5, Boon of Hera triggers, awarding 10 free spins. A Golden Hera symbol is added to the reels for free spins and is used to fill the Boon of Hera Meter. Now, collecting 3 Golden Heras awards +3 extra spins, collecting 6 doubles the winning total up till that point, 10 Golden Heras on the meter add +3 more spins, while collecting 16 triples all wins so far. Might of Zeus isn't exactly a cutting-edge slot. For much of the time, it was tough to call it a majorly exciting one, too. Mythology can be intensely high-powered stuff, full of drama, favours, heroes, and timeless stories people have returned to for millennia. All stuff to be tapped and funnelled into thrilling games. While the graphics in Might of Zeus are okay, and there is lightning flying about the place, Stakelogic and partner Jelly have chosen to go relatively light rather than dive deep into the topic. Ah well, that's their prerogative, so we shouldn't expect fireworks on every single spin.

The gameplay matches the looks, being neither bad nor massively inspirational. Might of Zeus was extremely rare in the base game, to the point of being non-existent. Then when it triggered in free spins, it simply transformed selected premiums into wilds, leaving off the respin part. Free spins, by contrast, triggered quite often, with or without the help of the Bolt of Zeus. There the Boon of Hera popped up to flesh out the game. Its modifying abilities are pretty basic, just extra spins or win multipliers, but are capable of generating a few smiles should you progress far enough. It's actually possible to progress quite far, too, as wins reach as high as 7,163x the bet – on the 96.41% version. Note that playing the next one down, the 94.03% version drops max win to 4,619x.

All in all, Might of Zeus was an okay game. It runs okay, has a couple of mildly interesting features, which can technically step up from time to time. There's little x-factor, though, nothing to really wow us, making the game pretty unmemorable when testing was done.
