Everyday, I tell myself that I will start my diet to control my increasing weight due to my love for food. I even thought that with my new work schedule, I’d start an after six diet wherein I shouldn’t eat anything after the clock strikes at six in the evening. But if you get to be asked to have dinner at Casa Verde, who could ever resist those ginormous slices of baby back ribs. I just wonder if the term “baby” fits the description of their ribs though.

I only brought P100 with me when I went down the ground floor of our building to meet up with Ed and his brother Dan earlier. I am already broke and the payday is three days away so I need to budget my food allowance since I have to pay for my parking fees too. I thought we were just going to eat at Chowabungga, McDonalds, Jollibee or KFC but Dan was itching to swipe his card so after debating on whether to eat at Roma Mia, Casa Verde, Shakeys or Mocha Blends in SkyRise, Casa Verde won over. So off we went to The Walk.

This is what they call Bryan’s Baby Back Ribs…don’t bother asking who Bryan is coz I don’t have any clue This is what Casa Verde is famous for. The ribs are really huge and it could serve 2 individuals. Their side dish includes a choice of rice, carrots and corn, mashed potato and I think fries. Not really sure though. This is really a highly recommended resto to dine whenever you’re in Cebu as you will surely go gaga over their ribs.

Then here’s another yummy treat from Casa Verde, their Seafood pasta (cooked carbonara style). Within those pile of pasta, you can find shrimps, squid and mushrooms. Wait. When did mushrooms became a part of the seafood family? hahaha.

I hope that my mind would stop thinking about food for a while so that I don’t have to crave for good food all the time. That way, I can work on my diet for once. hehehe. I hope temptations would stay away from me for the next three months.

Yehey! Finally, KFC in IT Park Cebu caved in. They are now open 24 hours a day, but only on weekdays to cater to the general public, which primarily consists of people working on BPO companies in IT Park.

IT Park, which is one of Cebu’s Business districts, houses buildings primarily structured for call centers and other BPOs. IT Park’s workforce mainly consists of people who work on different shifts: day and night and KFC’s move to operate 24 hours a day is just right.

After a month has passed since KFC opened it’s doors in IT Park, I guess the company finally realized that it will benefit their sales if they open 24 hours a day.

There are a lot of stores in IT Park which operates 24 hours a day. Among these stores are McDonalds at The Walk, Jollibee in the i2 Building, Ila Puti at the i1 Building and Mocha Blends in SkyRise. Other stores that are open at night includes Chowabunga, Breakfast Club and Bo’s Coffee. Roma Mia, Abuhan Tres, RaiRai Ken, Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Da Vinci’s, Moon Cafe, Casa Verde, Shakeys, East West and La Marea are not open 24/7 though.

As for the stores in SkyRise, I forgot the names of the establishments since I seldom go there now.

I got my free McDonald’s card today when I had breakfast at McDonald’s in IT Park, Lahug. Having the card entitles me to free coffee for any meals bought between 6:00 am to 10:30 am. The card also offers McDonald’s monthly treat for a minimum purchase of P150.00. Although I find the store far from our building, I may frequently visit the place since I’m a fan of their Chicken Fillet + Rice meal. At P42.00 and free coffee, I think that the price is just right.

Jollibee has its 39ers meals which gives you the choice among lumpia shanghai, burger steak and beef tapa (i think) but this doesn’t cover your drinks. I guess McDonald’s will be seeing more of me in the coming days As for KFC in IT Park, their Famous Bowl, priced at P43 (i think) without drinks is my favorite. The Famous Bowl meal includes mashed potatoes, cheese and Hot Shots chicken. My tummy gets a treat of this meal on for lunches and dinner breaks.

Last week, I planned to start a diet that involved just eating cereals, muesli and fresh fruits. But on my second day of diet, our bosses started treating us for dinner at McDonalds and unlimited breakfast buffet at Marco Polo Hotel. Who am I to refuse food? Being that I for one really appreciate good and yummy free food, there’s no option for me to decline the opportunity. Hehehe My colleagues even reminded me that I was supposed to be on a diet and I told them that it’s my cheat day I know I know, I need to have discipline if I am to get serious with losing weight. But still, who can resist eating food if your mom is a great cook? And with KFC around, waaaaaaaa!!!

Anyway, I am glad that the Healthy Options store in Ayala Center is around. Leah introduced me to eating cereals and muesli so I took the liberty to try and see if this form of diet will work for me again.

I went to Healthy Options at their new location in Ayala and I was awed at how wonderful their store looked. I wish I lived in a home like that. I couldn’t resist taking pictures of the store and I was carefully taking stolen shots of the place coz I might get reprimanded or something.

Sneeking at the back to take a photo of the store

Front view of the store with their magnificent chandelier (it’s really not magnificent…it’s chic and classic and stylish, simple yet elegant and super nice )

My diet plan.

A mixture of Bob’s Red Mill Old Country Style Muesli and Health Valley’s Heart Wise Cereal with Low Fat Fresh Milk. The Muesli has to be soaked for 5-10 minutes before one can consume it. Some would even soak it overnight.

Muesli and cold cereal already stored in its plastic containers

The muesli I bought before had the same packaging so I bought this item by mistake. I realized the error when I reached home. I immediately called up the store to ask if I can exchange the item and they said I have 14 days to replace it. I went back at Healthy Options the following day and asked for Muesli coz I can’t start the diet without it. They already discontinued selling the Health Best brand so I was given the Bob’s Red Mill Old Country Style Muesli instead.

Healthy Option’s new home is in the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu

The problem with this diet is that I love eating cereals so instead of me being on a diet, I think I’m trying to eat more than I’m supposed to. *sigh* How I wish I could drag my lazy ass to our treadmill and start sweating off the pounds I gained after stopping gym last year.

Hopeless…hopeless…hopeless… well I hope not for long! Otherwise, I’m doomed!

P.S. I forgot to take a picture of the milk but I bought one too..Low Fat from Nestle

Barely 2 weeks ago, I blogged about Kentucky Fried Chicken opening in the i2 Building of IT Park, Lahug, Cebu City. My colleagues and I were so excited and we anticipated the opening of the store each day.

Our anticipation finally came to rest when KFC opened last Friday, May 29th, to cater to the people who worked in IT Park. We were all so happy and excited that our long time dream of a KFC branch opening in the vicinity finally came true.

Without hesitation, we planned to have dinner at KFC last Friday. Our supervisor/manager agreed to treat us since it was payday and we were done with our monthly targets. And believe me when I say that there’s also nothing delicious like free food!

KFC finally opened!

Their counter

Hot and Spicy Imperial Chicken with eggplant as a side dish

The hot and crispy finger lickin’ good chicken of KFC

Randie taking a bite of his Zinger

What we didn’t like was the fact that they probably failed to estimate the crowd. They ran out of ice so we had to make do with drinking sodas that were not cold. On top of that we also noticed that like most of the KFC branches, their floor are dirty. We just joked around about it. As a reminder, remember that when visiting any KFC branch near your area just don’t mind their dirty floorings for they have been consistent with that ever since. As part of the Quality Team, we’d say their variance is 0% when it comes to cleanliness for they have a 100% accuracy in maintaining the dirty look of their stores. The only consolation is that they serve good and yummy chicken. I just hope that their dirty floor doesn’t mirror on their chickens though.

So, is it gonna be a compliment then when we say “Good Job in being consistent with having dirty floors like the rest of your branches” ? I certainly hope the management do something about this. Coz the question lies with how come Jollibee and McDonalds were able to keep and maintain a clean store yet KFC can’t? Is it with the tiles? I hope not.

Earlier today Audrey complained that the store ran out of spicy chicken. She mentioned if theystore can’t keep up with the demands of its consumers, they should better rethink of their strategies and how they manage things around there. Otherwise, they’ll be faced with super bitchy and irate customers since they chose to open in a location where Customer Satisfaction and Excellent Customer Service is considered as a bible of anyone working in IT Park.

Oh, one more thing. The store opens at 7am and closes at either 11 or 12 midnight. I’ll confirm this bit of information with the store later. What I don’t like is the fact that they don’t open 24/7. They are a fast food chain and should act like one. McDonalds and Jollibee are open 24/7 in IT Park. I hope they do too. If not, I hope they open to cater to consumers working on a different time zone.
