H1N1 Scare

Posted on 25 June 2009 | 107 views

Due to the increase of known people who got infected with the H1N1 virus, I have been trying to get off my mind of the possibility that sooner or later I might get the virus too. I am hoping against hope that I don’t get contracted with the virus since for one I just learned that our HMO won’t cover the hospital expenses for this type of disease. That would really give my parents a problem.

My sister was just released from the hospital yesterday due to diarrhea and dehydration. She was admitted last Sunday and my mind flew to possibilities of her getting infected with the virus too. I thought that in a worse case scenario it could just be dengue, H1N1 or plain diarrhea. I am glad that it was just diarrhea.

Right now, one of my colleagues had an asthma attack and was admitted to the hospital. Another one just left the office because she had fever. And right now, I am also feeling the build up of phlegm on my throat and I colds are starting to form too. My head is starting to ache but I guess these are just signs of getting too stressed at work because of the lack of rest and sleep that I am depriving myself of. But I know for a fact that when the H1N1 virus finds me, I’d be an easy target to it due to my weak system, which is why I hope it doesn’t find me.

Maybe I’m just getting paranoid. Maybe not. But I hope this freaking virus leaves this world for good.
