Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

Cape Bojeador Ligthouse, located in the town of Burgos, Ilocos Norte,  sits majestically on top of a hill while overlooking the South China Sea. This lighthouse was built in 1892 and is still operational to date. This is one of the famous historical landmarks in Ilocos Norte and a must see when visiting the province. This is the 1st pit stop on your way to Pagudpud, home to the the famous Blue Lagoon.

The road leading to the lighthouse can be compared to the road leading to Cebu’s Tops, except that the road to Tops is steeper. My companions counted the steps leading to the top and I think they counted more than 90 steps. The climb to the top is scary but once you’re there, the view is simply breathtaking.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse was our first stop on day 2of our Extreme North Adventure. My sister failed to join us since her asthma attacked from the long trip the day before. She just got busy by looking for some mba programs in her laptop.

It is best to head to the lighthouse early in the morning (before 9am), especially during peak season, unless you want to mingle with all the other tourists (both foreign and local). The stairs leading to the top could get crowded and you’d have to wait for your turn to go up/down. You may encounter problems on the parking space too so better start early on this trip.

This trip wouldn’t be possible without the aid of Doc IC and Edwin who was so kind enough to offer us to go with Doc IC as he accompanied his college friends from Manila (who was also on vacation at that time with their family).

Thank you so much!

Next stop: Bangui Windmills!!!
